The
Topps Vault Presents
Original Topps Baseball Card Color Transparencies
The
Topps Company has long been admired for turning out many
of the most definitive trading cards ever created. For
more than fifty years, the most prodigious names in sports
and entertainment have appeared on a Topps-produced picture
card. And now, through this special online promotion,
collectors have the rare opportunity to own the original
one-of-a-kind color transparencies used in creating many
of the most momentous trading cards
in baseball card history.
In
the coming months, The Topps Vault will offer a random
selection of vintage baseball color transparencies hand-picked
from the legendary Topps photo archives. Many of these
classic shots are the actual images selected by Topps
staffers to appear on the pack-issued trading cards. Also
available will be a fine selection of unpublished images
not selected by Topps, many of which have never been seen
before. Official Topps photographers captured the majority
of this memorable imagery during spring training or when
players visited the historic confines of Yankee Stadium.
For
every baseball card created by Topps, there exists a color
transparency used as the original artwork from which the
proof sheets were prepared. In the production process,
color transparencies were affixed onto a large acetate
sheet. The sheet would then be photographed and a first-stage
cardboard-stock proof sheet was printed.
Each
vintage full color transparency offered by the Topps Vault
is encased in a clear Lucite cardholder
and comes with an official Topps Vault certificate of
authenticity.
The
images shown on this page and in the Topps Vault auctions
feature transparencies that have
been processed through Photoshop. Click
