BIO
Ray
Lago
Nearly
three decades ago, Lago began his career
as a freelance illustrator for such
clients as Reader's Digest, Scholastic
Books, Doubleday & Co. and various
advertising agencies, including a brief
stint at Neal Adams' Continuity Associates.
This led him to a variety of work such
as storyboarding, logo design and computer
graphics. For a while he produced television
graphics for NBC News, ABC News and
PBS's McNeil/Lehrer News Hour. It was
a good experience but inevitably he
moved on to work in fields he was more
interested in, such as fantasy and comics.
Lago's comic book work includes an Ivanhoe
graphic novel from First/Classics Illustrated,
the Vampirella 25th Anniversary Special
from Harris, Skin Tight Orbit from NBM,
Hellraiser from Epic and Shi: Masquerade
from Crusade as well as painted covers
for Marvel, Dark Horse and various independent
publishers. He's also contributed to
multiple trading and gaming card sets
including Magic the Gathering. Two monographs
have been published on his art, Ray
Lago: Heroes & Angels from Archangel
Entertainment and Ray Lago Sketchbook
I: Drawn to Beauty from Big Wow Art.
