Hermann
Mejia
Mejia
was born in Caracas, Venezuela and graduated
from the Caracas Design Institute. When
he traveled to New York, he got assignments
from DC Comics with the help of artist
George Pratt. This lead to the editors
of MAD Magazine seeing his work, and
he has been painting for them ever since.
Hermann's art is characterized by the
use of different mediums and styles,
which have allowed him to exhibit his
work in newspapers, institutional stamps,
business magazines, graffiti, galleries,
humor magazines, and comics. Mejia's
was nominated for a Harvey Award of
Best Artist for his comic book art in
2001, and in 2003 he won the National
Cartoonist Society Reuben Award, in
the category of Best in Magazine Feature.
Mejia currently lives in Brooklyn, NY,
with his loving wife, Elisa.
